Romsey Ladies 1xi travelled to Yateley for their first game after the half term break. Romsey started strongly, with good connecting play up the wings, building up play from the defensive unit of Liz Forbes, Emily Slade and G.Hebert. Despite the intense periods of attack, Romsey were unable to convert their early chances, with crosses from Emily Williams escaping the sticks of players waiting in the D. As the half progressed, Yateley gained in confidence and Romsey needed their keeper Laura Kemp to stop some attacks from the Yateley forwards. However, neither side could convert and the first half ended 0-0.

The second half saw Romsey come out strong again, willed on by the positive first half play, with Bethan Knights and Emma Beeching having some early attempts on goal. There was good attacking play from R.Cooper and S.Forbes in midfield, which resulted in the Yateley defensive being split. This allowed Kate Olingschlaeger to receive the ball in the D and slip the ball past the keepers near post to give Romsey a 1-0 lead.

This goal gave Romsey the confidence they needed, with Kate Moss switching the play from left to right and Emma Bouchard working hard in midfield to open up gaps in the Yateley formation. Romsey were positive in attack and won a number of short corners, which tested the Yateley defence, but didn’t result in a goal. With more attempts on goal Romsey won another short corner, which player of the match, Erica Jenner received at the top of the D, dribbled past 2 Yateley defenders as well as the goal keeper and put the ball in the back of the goal to make the score 2-0 to Romsey. Romsey then kept their heads after a late Yateley attack to see out the game 2-0 winners.
