Romsey traveled to Trojans with what can only be described as a team of all star galacticos.  The question on everyone’s mind was could they come together as a team and deliver on the day? Thankfully, 1st team coach Stuart Robertson (aka ‘the special one’) was on hand with a white board and some tactics.

The results will go down in legend.  29 goals scored over 7 games. But this wasn’t just some free scoring bonanza of offensive total hockey.  Behind the success was a backbone of ruthless organisation and defensive brilliance.  In over 70 minutes of hockey the Romsey net was never seriously threatened.

So to the players!

Maya was absolutely outstanding in defence and deserves special mention and credit for her contribution to the clean sheet.  Fantastic strength on the ball and great calm distribution were the hallmarks of her game.

Camilla proved her value and versatility again in this tournament and got stronger game by game.  After some great all around play she deservedly came away with 3 goals in the final games.

Zach and Anna were tireless in their efforts and both were rewarded by goals.  Zach netting 2 great efforts and Anna showing cat like poaching skills at close range after an intervention from the ‘special one’.

Caitlin and Elsie were at the heart of everything scoring 7 goals between them and providing vital assists and defensive interventions throughout.

Charlie and Oscar shared the tournaments golden stick award both netting 8 goals each including some outstanding solo dribbles from Charlie and an incredible strike from distance by Oscar.

Winchester (B) 5-0

Trojans (C) 2-0

Salisbury (B) 5-0
