Match Report: Romsey 4s v Eastleigh 2s
Romsey Ladies 4s opened their league campaign in style with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Eastleigh 2s in their first home fixture of the season.
After choosing to remain in their division last year despite promotion, Romsey were keen to make a strong start. The atmosphere was friendly but competitive, with both sides giving everything from the first whistle.
The breakthrough came midway through the second half, after Romsey forced three consecutive short corners. On the third attempt, Hannah Davey calmly converted, earning herself the nickname “Heroic Hannah” as her goal ultimately sealed the win.
Eastleigh pressed hard in search of an equaliser, but Romsey’s defence stood firm. At the heart of that effort was Emma East, who excelled in a holding midfield-defender role. Always first to the ball and quick to break down attacks, she deservedly took home the Player of the Match award.
It was also a special occasion for Penny and Ruby, who both made their adult debuts and settled in well. Throughout the game, Romsey’s communication and teamwork shone through, with several flowing “yellow to yellow” passing rallies that delighted the home supporters.
A positive start to the season and plenty of promise for the matches ahead.
