Ladies 4th XI vs Andover 3

Match Report: Romsey Ladies 4s v Andover 3s (Away) 🏑💛💙

Romsey 4s made the trip to Andover under weather conditions best described as… meh 🌥️. Not quite wet, not quite dry, but perfectly acceptable for a Saturday morning of hockey.

The first half contained all the goals and most of the chaos. Andover managed to sneak two past us early on while Romsey were still finding our rhythm. From there it turned into a proper battle with plenty of argi-bargi 💥.

Romsey’s moment of glory came from a beautifully worked short corner. Lucy delivered a perfect ball in and Poppi calmly slotted home her first ever ladies’ hockey goal 🎉🏑 — celebrated loudly by the Romsey sideline.

One of the day’s more entertaining moments came when Anne confidently told Simeon to “LEAVE IT!” 📣 — advice which may or may not have been necessary, but certainly amused everyone within earshot.

The second half saw Romsey push hard for the equaliser. Chances came and went and despite plenty of pressure the ball stubbornly refused to find the net. At the other end Amelia was having an absolute stormer in goal 🧤🥅, pulling off a series of fabulous saves to keep Romsey firmly in the game.

Defensively there were some heroic efforts too, particularly from Lizzy, who appeared to have made it her personal mission to go in for absolutely every tackle available 💪 — fearless stuff.

Despite the final score finishing 2–1 to Andover, Romsey never stopped battling and were unlucky not to come away with a point.
