U12 girls played 4 matches on Sunday, winning 2, drawing 1 and losing 1 so an amazing day.
All the girls played so well supporting each other, there was amazing play from all teams and several girls learning new positions. Well done to Cat making her debut in goal, some amazing saves!
We look forward to seeing what the rest of season brings with this super bunch of girls!
GU12s Tournament in Winchester
The u12 girls played 4 matches on Sunday at Winchester and were amazing!
With 3 wins and a narrow defeat they worked as teams and supported each other brilliantly!
This was even more satisfying as it was the first matches of the season with lots of new players bedding in and they all gelled together amazingly.
Well done girls, great first match day!
U8s Start of Season Tournament in Bournemouth
U8s kicked off the first of this seasons tournaments away at Bournemouth.
19 Romsey players across 2 teams played teams from Bournemouth and New Forest.
Everyone had fun and we had a great time with goals for both teams.
Well done to Willow, Ezy, Esme and Beth for their debuts!
Great play everyone and thank you to Seb, Charlotte and Matt for running the teams.
Juniors end season in style!
100 juniors turned out last Sunday to play some hockey with all age groups mixed in which was super to see, the weather held out and the junior section was able to celebrate the end of a successful season in style at the Cubs new home!
Well done to all players and award recipients and of course to all our wonderful volunteers that make hockey happen!
GU14s v Bournemouth
Lost. 5-3 to Bournemouth with a disallowed goal
Players of the match – Clara and Camilla
There was a very high standard of play today, and some of the best play of the
season. Bournemouth were an excellent side and strong throughout.
Our defence and especially some excellent saves from Fran (GK) ensured the
score wasn’t higher. Ané played very well in defence as did Maya, with some
excellent tackles and Anna managed a few good belts away from the D.
Bournemouth scored early in the game and then we thought we’d equalized with
a fantastic goal from Cailtlin after multiple attempts at goal. Sadly this was
disallowed after some discussion and an injured Bournemouth goalkeeper who
couldn’t play for the rest of the match. This was therefore a very good effort from
Bournemouth who managed to still win without a goalkeeper.
Elsie had some excellent runs up the line, passing to Ava, as did Clara who
produced some good tackles.
Ava’s speed up an undefended pitch, led to one of the goals.
This was a game a tier above our usual games and the girls met the challenge
well – but they will hopefully take some learning back about how they cover the
pitch.
BU14s v Salisbury
8-0 loss to Salisbury, penultimate end of season game. Salisbury are top of the league and baring in mind we fielded one u10 and 8 u12 players, the boys did really well. Joe made some fantastic saves. Ben and Jack did some great defensive work and distribution. Joe G did brilliantly having recently returned to hockey. Hamish had a great second half scaring the opposition with his skills and Stanley K was unlucky not to score.Team vote man of the match Zach. Well done boys, we will build on this next week!
BU12s 1s Top Table
Romsey 1s had their last 2 league games on Sunday 12th March. They had to secure a win against Romsey 2s and Southampton in order to finish top. They went out with a fantastic attitude and desire to win. They played some beautiful hockey, passing, running into space and taking every shot on goal offered. Both games resulted in a high scoring game, with Romsey 2, 10-0 to Romsey 1s and Southampton, 11-0 to Romsey 1s.
Very proud of the boys for playing excellent hockey and working well as a team to secure their place at the top of the league.
BU10s In2Hockey
The U10 boys squad for In2Hockey were a young and inexperienced group who were unlucky to be in the tough side of the draw which Winchester and Haslemere didn’t qualify from. After 3 defeats, they scored 2 goals in an exciting match against Yateley. Resilient defending and the post kept the ball out of the goal with the final score 2-0 which boosted morale. Unfortunately the last game was against Alton which we lost 3-0 which was tough to finish on, until we learnt that they only lost in the final on penalty flicks which put a better perspective on it. The boys kept working hard and stuck at it in spite of significant age and size differences, plus having makeshift defenders as our regulars were unavailable. They should look forward to a better tournament next year.

- Romsey 0 – 2 Haslemere
- Romsey 0 – 4 Fareham

In2 tournament U12 Girls
The U12 Girls played an amazing In2 tournament at Basingstoke HC on Sunday.
The tournament started off with pool matches. Two pools of six team each, the U12G played against teams who are mostly a division up.
Quick matches of 12 minutes. Hard work of the girls resulted in one win, 2 draws, 2 loss. A beautiful third place in the pool! This meant playing the 5th/6th place play-offs against the 3rd place of the other pool. The excitement of the matches was clearly heard off the pitch by the supporting parents, who could barely watch during the play off. Penalty flicks (which we have never done) were required to determine the final score after the match ended in 0-0. Shout out to our goalie Charlotte T for stopping (and scaring off) all the opponents tries. Thanks to Millie who scored our only goal at the last minute. Well deserved 5th place girls!

U8s successful at Southampton
Romsey went with an u8 squad made up of 20 players, split into 2 teams, to Southampton today. Although a bit chilly, we were very glad to be out in a dry tournament for a change.
Smiles all around as Romsey seemed to be on a roll with lots of super goals.
Special mention for Henry D, Max, Myah and Teddy for their debuts.
Goals from almost everyone one. 7 of the 10 Romsey 1 players scored today which just demonstrates how far they have come. Fraser, having just turned 5 scored his first goal, along with Jorgie and Erin! Teddy scored a hat trick in the last game, much to everyone’s delight. Zara, Alexander, and Ted returned to the score sheet, using their speed and strength.
Romsey 2 saw Henry D and Max scoring in their first ever tournaments and Madeleine opened her goal tally. Matilda continued to show her dominance.
Not forgetting some super defense work by Sally, Arlo, Freya, Louis, Ines, Alex, Henry H and Thomas, who again made a super save on the goal line.
Cheers and high fives all around. Well done Romsey!
