Under 12 boys blustery in Bournemouth!

The under 12 boys had two really good matches in Bournemouth against Basingstoke and Bournemouth.

A wet and blustery morning did not dampen spirits and two matches saw a 6-1 defeat to a strong Basingstoke team with a super keeper that pulled off a number of great saves. Then a super win against Bournemouth 9-2 with Toby scoring 5!

Well done boys a great team effort in both matches and some super goals!

U12 Boys Top of The League!

The under 12 boys played Basingstoke Stoke A & B on Sunday in two very entertaining matches.

They beat the B team 3-1 and narrowly lost 4-3 to the A team which contained Hampshire players so a super effort!

Some great goals including a brace for Noah and Henry and a goal for debutant Toby!

This means the boys top the league at Christmas! Well done all and hope you are looking forward to the second half of the season.

Under 12 Boys save the best until last!

Romsey under 12 boys had a fine away performance at Bournemouth on Sunday where they played 4 matches and remained undefeated.

Fielding 4 new players that fitted in very well to the side the boys started with a draw against Basingstoke 2-2 with hi lights being a super reverse shot from Zak after 20 seconds to give Romsey the lead and some stout defending from the boys and almost a winner from Noah that the keeper saved well.

The second match was another draw which felt like a win with Jack surging forward from defence and sending an unstoppable shot into the left hand corner to grab the draw late on.
The boys tails we now up and the third game saw them beat Basingstoke 3-1 coming back from being a goal down.

In the final match they saved the best until last and beat Bournemouth 7-0! The build up play was amazing and they never gave Bournemouth time on the ball and when they got into the D the finish was exact.

A great morning out with lots of goals and super team work , well done boys , amazing play!

A sunny end to a strange season for the juniors!

The Juniors finished their season this week and finally we had some sunshine!

It has been a difficult and interrupted season but there was still some great hockey played and super individual performances.

A really big thank you to the circa 30 volunteers who help run the junior section, coaches , managers , umpires and assistants who without you we could not operate!

We hope for a more normal season next year and hope the children enjoyed receiving their medals for their great efforts this year.

Look out for updates on Teamo and I hope you all have a wonderful summer!

U12 boys battling performances against strong In2Hockey field

Last weekends In2 hockey tournament showcased some brilliant hockey in the sun.

The competition was massively strong and unfortunately too much for Romsey u12 boys.

The lads played only two pool matches after “winning” on walk over against Portsmouth followed by two defeats, 2-1 against Petersfield and 2-0 against Alton.

Henry scored our only goal -a very nice one though😀.

In playoff we were against first New Forest, 3-0 and then Yateley, 0-0 withut them winning on penalty flicks.

Thanks to everyone that came along and for keeping your heads up boys in a strong field.

U12 Boys give it their all against strong league leaders

Bournemouth-Romsey 9-1

Bournemouth was too strong and consistent for Romsey U12 boys.

They started the match with scoring six goals in first period but after that, Romsey  got better into the play and in the two following periods only two goals were scored per period.

As a mum and Romsey fan I don’t think the final score completely reflected the play.  In particularly in the third period, Romsey played really well and had several chances and near goals.

Sam played his first match with the team and also scored our only goal.

George was nominated “player of the match”.

Keep your heads up boys-you fought hard and played your best.

Santa joins in the Junior Christmas Fun Day

Over 50 members of the junior section and their families were joined by Father Christmas for a morning of fun and games at Romsey School.

7 teams made up of members from all age groups, coaches and parents played a 7 aside round robin tournament.

Hot chocolate and mince pies were served to maintain energy levels and everyone played in fine spirits to ensure that Santa will return on Christmas Eve to fill their stockings!

U12Bs draw against Southampton

After a shy start, the Romsey boys started to communicate and spread out on the pitch and we got to see some really great hockey. Southampton scored 1-0, 10 min into the game. In the 2nd part we saw Henry scoring two goals, one of a short corner from Rowan and the second assisted by Jake and Milo. The third part saw some lovely saves by Lewie but also another goal where he was alone against two Southampton players. Tom was voted “player of the match” in our team but I think it is important to say that all boys worked hard and deserved a “well done clap”. Thank you to Tom for umpiring and to Lisa for coaching.
