Romsey U10’s were at Salisbury on Sunday for the minis tournament and their first game of the morning was against an all boys Salisbury team who managed to score early on in the match, with Romsey being unlucky to equalize having had the majority of the play. Next up saw a 1-0 win for Romsey against Andover A team, the goal being scored by Catherine Clarke, from a run and set up by Alice Appleton with consistent solid defending from Naeve Pountney and Tara Alavi forcing the opposition back. Another 3-0 win followed for the Romsey side, with accurate passing in midfield from Tessa Drake and Jack Sluman enabling Catherine Clarke to score the first goal from a pass in from Alice Appleton, the second set up well by Marianne Lawson and finished off by Alice Appleton, with the third coming from Marianne Lawson. Two defeats then followed but Romsey kept the pressure on with Florence Robinson scoring a well earned goal against Bournemouth and then rounding off the morning with a 1-1 draw to Southampton A team, Catherine Clarke scoring the goal superbly supported by Daisy Richardson in midfield. All in all a terrific mornings hockey was played out by each and every one of the Romsey players, who really worked together as a team to produce effective passing and relentless tackling and should be extremely proud of their achievements.
