A much changed under 14 team (without JAC players and the captain and top scorer)  played a friendly against Aldershot at HCS on Sunday and managed a 2-1 victory with all of the goals in the last quarter.

The defence marshalled by Thomas Edwards and Alex Mills but with able support from Ollie Bryant and Jamie Sanderson were under the cosh for the majority of the game and goals were averted by great effort, last ditch tacking and superb goal keeping by Hal Cross of which one diving stick save in the first half will remain long in the memory.

The new midfield central partnership of match captain Gus Reid and Art Barcia were dynamic and active both in helping defence and feeding balls through to man of the match Matchy Lincoln whose pace up front was a constant threat to the Aldershot defence. His running of the channels and pace chasing through balls was a feature of Romsey’s match and it was he who opened the scoring with 10 minutes to go. This score was quickly doubled when Gus  Reid swept home a  pass from Ed Robert’s right wing cross.

Although the match result seemed secure, Aldershot continued to attack and managed to scramble home a consolation goal with 2 minutes to go.
