The Romsey team travelled to Basingstoke today and followed up a win earlier in the season with a thrashing of their hapless opponents 9 -1, with Charlie Harrigan continuing his recent great form by scoring 5.

From the off, the fast and high pressing game from the whole Romsey team put Basingstoke under great pressure, and the goals came at regular intervals with Harrigan getting 2, Tom Croft Baker and Matchy Lincoln  one each all before half time.  The midfield of Art Barcia, Gus reed and Croft – Baker squeezed the Basingstoke opponents back into their D and the width provided by Lincoln and Thomas Edwards allowed many chances to be created, and the quality of the play probably deserved a greater scoreline.

The Romsey team did not let up in the second half, and although a rare breakaway led to a good Basingstoke goal, Romsey continued to attack and Harrigan particularly created many chances both for him and his team mates. Goals continued to come and a second half hat trick from Harrigan boosted his personal tally  to 5 and captain Zack Cooper also scored with Matchy Lincoln finishing off a fine team passing move with 2 minutes to go.

This was Romsey’s third win on the trot and leaves them well placed to move up the league with 4 matches to go.
