Basingstoke 5s (1) vs (2) Ladies 3s

Scorers: Gladstone (2)

Romsey ladies 3s bounced back from a disappointing defeat last week to win 2-1 away to Basingstoke 5.

Romsey played well throughout and dominated possession, but were made to work hard by a well-organised Basingstoke defence.

The first Romsey goal came midway through the first half, when Georgia Appleby and Rosie Middleton combined well in midfield to break through the Basingstoke defence. Rosie then passed the ball to Lesley Humphreys, who drove towards the by-line and produced a great cross for Cat Gladstone to score.

Romsey continued to press in the second half, but struggled to convert the pressure into clear-cut chances.

With only a few minutes left to play, the Romsey defence were caught out by a fast Basingstoke break and conceded an equaliser. Romsey remained focussed and attacked again, winning a short corner. Lesley Humphrey’s initial shot was blocked by a Basingstoke defender, but she collected the rebound and passed back to corner-taker Gladstone, who struck the ball first time into the goal to secure a deserved win for Romsey.
