A much changed under 14 team played a very different looking Salisbury team  to the one they the beat handsomely 3 weeks ago in the sun on Sunday and despite going into an early 2 goal lead, could to hold onto their lead and claim  another victory.

The team started well and the tactic of centre forward Charlie Harrigan playing a high line soon paid dividends as a number of long balls through to him, just missed their target but after 10 minutes a through ball from Matchy  Lincoln released Harrigan whose first attempt was blocked but he followed up to score.  Romsey continued to pressure and a second goal followed quite swiftly afterwards when Harrigan again through on goal drew the keeper and passed sideways  for Zack Cooper to score into an empty net.  The  momentum remained with Romsey and a number of chances were created and Ben Davidson and Jake rowland went close but as the half continued Salisbury came into the game and scored to make it 2 -1 at half time.

The second half was much more in Salisbury’s favour and the re jigged back line of Ed Roberts,  Ollie Bryant,  George Forgan Jamie Sanderson and Ollie Bryant were often over run but kept at it with some great last ditch attempts, blocks and tackles. The pressure eventually told when Salisbury equalised from a well hit penalty corner past birthday boy Hal Cross in the Romsey goal.

The equaliser seemed to affect both teams – or was it the 18 C temperature! – and although a number of chances were created  including a series of penalty corners in injury time that Romsey centre back Alex Mills managed to single handily defend – the score remained equal, which was probably fair on the balance of play.
