Romsey’s U12 Boys continued to enjoy the fair weather as they played their first away match of the season against Trojans.  The team included two boys playing their first match for Romsey – Archie Webster and William Ritchie.

Trojans struck first, early in the first period, with a quick goal before Romsey had chance to settle.  The midfield quartet of Harry Croft-Baker, Joseph & Stan Arnold and Elliot Colyer then began to assert themselves, driving play deep into Trojans territory.  Harry opened his account for the morning with a blistering shot from a tight angle.  Romsey continued to pour forward with front-men James Fuller, Ben Harris and Christopher Blake testing the Trojan’s defence before the first period ended all square: Trojans 1 – Romsey 1.

The change of sides in the second period obviously suited Romsey as they piled forward, supported by the back four of Jamie Reid, Noah Cooper, William Richards and Oliver O’Hara.  Harry Croft-Baker quickly added another goal to take Romsey ahead.  Trojans made the occassional visit into Romsey’s half, but did little to trouble Romsey’s keeper Rob Budden.  With William Ritchie charging up and down the right wing, and Archie Webster on the left wing, Romsey continued to drive forward.  Ben Harris had his shot stopped by the Trojan’s keeper, but Harry Croft-Baker tidied up for his hat-trick.  Harry added another two in the period to complete a dominant second period: Trojans 1 – Romsey 5.

Trojan’s came back at Romsey in the third and final period, with the play switching from end to end and chances going to both teams.  Trojans clawed two goals back, causing some momentary concern before the momentum swung back in Romsey’s favour with the defence providing the platform, pushing the play into the Trojans half.  Debutant William Ritchie got the scoreboard ticking again for Romsey with his first goal for the club.  The final few minutes saw some frantic action in the Trojan’s goal area with James Fuller’s shot being saved before Harry finished off, driving a reverse stick shot hard into the Trojan’s goal to claim his double hat-trick.

Final score: Trojans 3 – Romsey 7.
