Ladies 3s (1) vs (0) Hamble 2s

Scorer: Gladstone

The Ladies 3s made it 4 wins out of 4 when a late winner sealed the points against Hamble.

Both teams created chances in a fast-paced first half, with Hayley Tucknott as sweeper making a number of crucial interventions to keep Hamble at bay. In the second half the Romsey midfield started to dominate the game, with particularly strong performance from player of the match Megan Wilton in central midfield.

However, Hamble were still dangerous and only a late intervention from Carrie Martin stopped them from getting clean through on goal. With 20 minutes to play Rosie Middleton almost put Romsey ahead from close range, but somehow the Hamble defence managed to scramble to ball away.

It was starting to look like it would not be Romsey’s day when Julie Evans’s sweeping pass from the wing found Rachel Alexander unmarked in the D, only for her to push her shot just wide.

Then with just a few minutes left, the ball broke to Megan Wilton in the D, who passed to Cat Gladstone for her to slot the ball past the Hamble goalkeeper and steal the points.
