Basingstoke 5s (1) – (3) Ladies 3s

Scorers: Alexander, Gladstone, Humphreys

The Ladies 3s maintained their 100% record for the season by beating Basingstoke away. Romsey played some excellent passing hockey and there were particular stand-out performances from left- and right-backs Hilary Andrews and Ruth Manners, both of whom defended solidly and made several excellent forays forward.

Basingstoke took the lead after just 10 minutes when Romsey were caught out by a counter-attack, but Romsey maintained their composure and got a deserved equaliser shortly before half-time when Julie Evans got to the by-line and provided an excellent cross for Cat Gladstone to score.

Romsey then took the lead early in the second half when Lesley Humphreys jinked past her marker to score.

However, the game remained close as the Basingstoke ‘keeper made a number of good saves.

The win was finally sealed with just 5 minutes remaining when Cat Gladstone intercepted a weak pass between the Basingstoke defenders and found Rachel Alexander, who scored with a great shot from the top of the D.
