Yateley 4s (1) – (1) Ladies 3s

Scorers: Gladstone

Romsey came from behind to snatch a crucial draw against fellow league-leaders Yateley.

The first half was played at a fast pace, but both teams struggled to retain possession. Romsey were guilty of a frequently misplacing their passes and were fortunate to get to half-time with the score still at 0-0.

Romsey re-organised at half-time and began to play much better hockey, but fell behind to a well worked goal by Yateley. They then almost conceded again but for a fine save from Hilary Andrews in the Romsey goal.

Finally with just a few minutes to play, Romsey finally got the equaliser they deserved when Cat Gladstone finished off a fine counter-attacking move. There was even a chance for Romsey to steal the win at the death, when Rachel Alexander won a short-corner with the last touch of normal time. Unfortunately, Lesley Humphreys shot was just wide and Cat Gladstone on the post was unable to steer it in. Player of the match went to Captain Tash Issacs.
