The U8 squad continued their great start to the season at their first home tournament. Romsey were able to field two teams of equal ability due to a large number of enthusiastic players.  The first match was Romsey 1 vs Salisbury 1. William Norman and Millie Chatterley fought hard in defence against the older and more experienced Salisbury attack playing the ball through to Isobel Sluman, Harry Channel, Harriet Field and Marcus Lake in midfield. Forwards Toby Fuller and Delilah Wadsworth had a few hard fought attempts on goal which slipped narrowly past the goal post. The team did well to fend off strong opposition and only concede one goal. Romsey 1’s fought just as strongly against Salisbury 2, defending firmly to draw (0-0). The match against New Forest was very closely fought and was clinched in the dying seconds with a fantastic goal by Harriet Field, her first ever hockey goal for the club, providing a well-deserved win for the team (1,0).  Romsey 2s played their first match against Southampton. Annabel Norman, Zoe Phillips and Harry Appleton worked solidly in the midfield, working the ball up to Pheobe Lewis and Oliver Channell in attack. Defenders Tilly Duncan and Hattie Knapman were quick to deny Southampton any chances on goal. Romsey soon broke through the strong Southampton defence, allowing Harry Appleton a strike at goal, scoring his first for Romsey, making the scoreline 1-0 to Romsey. Romsey 2 then went on to play Salisbury 2 losing narrowly by 1 goal. Both teams continued their hard work drawing (0-0) with Andover 2 and Andover 1.  The final match was against Southampton.  Harry Appleton scored early in the match and the team was unlucky to concede an equaliser (1,1). All players showed great determination and teamwork throughout the tournament.
