Romsey enjoyed a cold, wintery morning at Bournemouth playing eight matches back to back.  Harry Channell, Toby Fuller and Annabel Norman were playing in defence, Zoe Phillips, Marcus Lake, Harriet Field and William Norman in midfield and Harry Appleton, Hattie Knapman and Oliver Channell up front.  The first match was a close fought one against Bournemouth 1 and the team was unlucky not to score (0,0).  The next match was against Southampton.  Toby Fuller made some great clearances in defence keeping our sheet clean whilst Marcus and Harry Appleton put away a great goal each to result in a triumphant win (2,0).  Our match against Salisbury 1 proved to be a lot harder and despite a brilliant clearance off the line by Annabel Norman we lost (0,2).  Against New Forest the team was much more competitive.  William Norman proved invaluable in midfield evading his opponents with ease and Harry Appleton collected the ball numerous times from the deep midfield to have two narrow misses at goal.  Harry Channell though put us ahead, claiming the ball in midfield and calmly clearing his defenders to put away a cracking goal and notch up his well-deserved first goal for the club.  New Forest then came back strongly to score an equaliser on the break (1,1).  Trojans 2 proved to be tough opposition.  Harriet and Zoe put in some great tackles, standing firm against very good players, but despite resilient and determined play by the whole team, we were beaten by three good Trojan goals.  In contrast, the match against Bournemouth 2 was played nearly entirely in Bournemouth’s half.  A team shuffle resulted in some great attacking moves by Harry Channell who was moved to play up front.  Marcus played confidently in midfield, deftly weaving through the defence to have two close misses at goal and the team was so unlucky to go down a goal in the dying minutes (0,1).  Our penultimate match was against Trojans 1, again a very competitive match against a strong team.  Oliver Channell was composed against much older players and proved his worth by setting up Harry Appleton for a great strike at goal.  Our defensive line up of Hattie and Harriet was strong and they demonstrated some great instinctive teamwork (1,3).  Against Salisbury 2, the whole team played well together and they were unlucky to concede a goal (0,1)

Well done to all players for a brilliant performance on a very cold day.
