Romsey U10s entered 2 teams into the Bournemouth tournament on Sun Dec 14th, but were much depleted by illness on the day. 10 intrepid players made it and, with some juggling around of the fixtures, we managed to put out a team for every game, 10 in all. Despite the lack of numbers, the team produced some amazing hockey, winning 5 games, drawing 1 and losing 4.

There were some great performances from all players. Amelia showed great vision moving into space and looking before passing the ball. She was also very determined in defence, not giving up and marking very well. Freddie, Anna and Issy also made some fine tackles under pressure and often cleared the ball wide, away from the opposition.

Molly, Issy and Hannah made themselves available for passes by moving into space and also called for the ball when they were free. Hannah also made a difference in defence, putting in some key tackles in the shooting circle. Up front forwards Charlie and Tom linked well with mid fielders Luke and William to create many scoring opportunities which they often converted. Top scorer was Charlie with 9, while Tom and Luke grabbed 4 each. The boys’ speed on and off the ball created many chances for a swift counter attack. They were also tireless, running back to defend whenever needed and covering large areas of the pitch.

Overall it was a fine performance, the team have improved immensely and showed great determination and courage today as well as running their socks off for 3 hours.
