The Romsey U8 team of Harry Appleton, Toby Fuller, Poppy Hanslip, Hattie Knapman, Marcus Lake, Phoebe Lewis, Annabel Norman, William Norman and Zoe Phillips had a great tournament at the Southampton Mini Festival.

Our first match was against Salisbury B.  The team played well together with William, Toby and Poppy putting in some great tackles.  Annabel, Hattie, Zoe and Marcus moved the ball effectively through midfield and up to Phoebe and Harry up front.  It was a closely fought match reflected by the (0,0) score line. The next match was against Southampton A.  Romsey had the majority of the play and were rewarded by one goal each from Harry, Marcus and William, William scoring his first goal for the club.  Toby and Annabel were reliably solid in defence, keeping the opposition at bay, and clever passing by William nearly resulted in another goal.  A very well-deserved win (3,0). Next up was an equally matched game against Bournemouth B (0,0).   Our fourth match against Trojans B showed them to be tough opposition and Romsey quickly went down three goals.  The team held their nerve and showed great grit and determination, taking all opportunities to try and break through the Trojan defence (0,3).   Our last match was against Salisbury A.  This was a great match with good play from both sides.  The winning Romsey goal came from a brilliant piece of team work.  William claimed the ball deep in the Salisbury half, passing quickly across to Marcus, who then made a lightening run up the right wing, crossing into Harry who put the ball away with a great strike and a triumphant win for the team (1,0).  Romsey had saved their best hockey for last and were justly rewarded for all their hard work at training.
