Under 12 Boys save the best until last!
Romsey under 12 boys had a fine away performance at Bournemouth on Sunday where they played 4 matches and remained undefeated.
Fielding 4 new players that fitted in very well to the side the boys started with a draw against Basingstoke 2-2 with hi lights being a super reverse shot from Zak after 20 seconds to give Romsey the lead and some stout defending from the boys and almost a winner from Noah that the keeper saved well.
The second match was another draw which felt like a win with Jack surging forward from defence and sending an unstoppable shot into the left hand corner to grab the draw late on.
The boys tails we now up and the third game saw them beat Basingstoke 3-1 coming back from being a goal down.
In the final match they saved the best until last and beat Bournemouth 7-0! The build up play was amazing and they never gave Bournemouth time on the ball and when they got into the D the finish was exact.
A great morning out with lots of goals and super team work , well done boys , amazing play!
U14 Girls top of the league!
The under 14 girls played Trojans B on Sunday and made a strong start dominating midfield with a strong pressing game not allowing Trojans any time on the ball.
This was soon rewarded with a great break away goal by Alisa who finished strongly into the corner of the goal.
The second half saw two more goals from Harriet and Isla from short corners, both finished smartly.
A super team performance with everyone working for each other saw the final score 3-0 to Romsey which secured top spot alone in the league.
Player of the match Clara – excellent debut for the u14 girls!
Well done girls!
Mini success at Salisbury
U8s
The U8s had a very impressive series of 6 games against 3 inexperienced Salisbury teams. All matches were won 1-0 but the children were so close to scoring many more, and our goal was only threatened by our own players. Well played everyone! Special mention to those playing their first games for Romsey who all did really well – Rosie, Felicity, Ted and Arlo.
U10s
Romsey u10 with Anna won all of their matches with lots of goals from Noah, Hamish, Jake and Emma! Results were 4-0, 4-0, 4-0 and 5-0! Big smiles all around.
Romsey u10 with Mark drew all of their Salisbury games, loosing out to only the other Romsey side! We are excited to have our first goal keeper, William, who played with such enthusiasm making some great saves.
We were impressed with all of our teams performance.
Successful Day For The U12s!
The U12 Girls and Boys started their new season with a new seven a side format which proved to suit Romsey very well!
Out of 6 matches Romsey won 5!
There were some super peformances , lots of goals and lots of touches of the ball for all the players.
Well done to all including our travelling support who were fantastic cheering all the children on!
RHC U14 Girls return with a win!
Having missed almost a year of competitive hockey our U14 Girls returned to league jockey with a comfortable away victory.
They played Southampton away in their first game of the season. A fantastic first half with great pressing team play saw the girls score 3 times.
Two goals for Imogen and one for Maggie from a move she started on the half way line saw the girls with a well earned half time lead.
The second half was a closer affair and Southampton had their chances but Romsey remained strong to take the win 3-0.
Well done girls, great start to the season!
A sunny end to a strange season for the juniors!
The Juniors finished their season this week and finally we had some sunshine!
It has been a difficult and interrupted season but there was still some great hockey played and super individual performances.
A really big thank you to the circa 30 volunteers who help run the junior section, coaches , managers , umpires and assistants who without you we could not operate!
We hope for a more normal season next year and hope the children enjoyed receiving their medals for their great efforts this year.
Look out for updates on Teamo and I hope you all have a wonderful summer!
U14 Girls end season on a high!
A super team performance saw the u14 girls come back to win 2-1 with a thrilling last twenty minutes that saw goals from Izzy L and the winner from Zoe P.
Romsey had to be at their best in a tight match but with great individual performances and more importantly a super team performance they won through.
Well done girls a super end to the season!
Players of the match Isla M-W and Harriet F , well done!
Thanks to Elaine Gibson for umpiring this season , brilliant!
U16 girls give 100% and more!
U16 girls produced a battling performance against a very good Andover side filled with Performance Centre and County girls. The 9-1 loss as their coaches said “was not a reflection of the game”.
Playing with only two recognised defenders to begin with then losing one to injury didn’t stop the girls and heads remained high,on a number of occasions they worried the Andover goal and on a different day a few more would have gone in.
A super short corner routine with Olivia slotting home a powerful shot proved to be the only goal for Romsey but a super team performance all round!
Well done all!
